What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Some are set by us, some by the companies whose services we use. This page lists every cookie Built To Pass is responsible for, what each one does, and how long it lasts.

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else we collect.

Strictly necessary

These make the site work. They are set whether or not you accept anything, because without them you could not sign in, stay signed in, or pay. They are not used to track you across other websites.

Analytics, and why it is not behind the banner

Google Analytics runs for every visitor, and we want to be straight with you about that rather than imply otherwise.

The reason is that gating measurement behind a click meant only people who clicked were ever counted, which told us nothing useful about the people who left. We kept the measurement and gave up the parts that make it advertising: no Google Signals, no ad personalization, and anonymized IP addresses. It tells us which lessons work. It does not follow you around the internet.

If you would rather not be measured at all, Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site, and most browsers now include tracking protection that does the same.

_ga, _ga_<id>Google AnalyticsTells us which pages actually help people prepare, and which ones lose them. Limited to first-party measurement: your IP address is anonymized, and Google Signals and ad personalization are both switched off, so this is not used to build an advertising profile of you.Set by Google

Advertising, which needs your consent

The Meta Pixel is the one that would build an advertising profile, so it is the one we ask about. It does not load until you accept cookies in our banner, and declining costs you nothing — every part of the course works either way.

Changing your mind

Your choice about advertising cookies is stored in your browser, not in a cookie, so clearing cookies alone will not reset it. Clearing this site’s site data in your browser settings will, and the banner will ask again.

You can also block or delete cookies yourself in your browser settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones, signing in will stop working.

Changing a browser setting only affects that browser on that device, so you would need to repeat it elsewhere.
