Kentucky sets every PLT at 160, including the 7-12 test that most states pass at 157.

Pass160

One thing to confirm before you register

The regulation names Mathematics: Content Knowledge as test 5161, but ETS replaced 5161 with 5165 and most states moved across years ago. Kentucky very likely accepts the current test at the same score, but the regulation has not been updated to say so, and we will not assume it for you.

What people get wrong

Each of these costs a candidate either money or a test date.

  • Kentucky sets the 7-12 pedagogy test at 160. Most states pass the same test at 157, so do not study to a number you read elsewhere.

Required, but not an exam

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • An approved educator preparation program, or an approved alternative route
  • Application through the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board

Now go pass them.

Knowing the list is the easy part. Built To Pass teaches the strategy layer that works on any of these, aimed at the domains where you are actually losing points.
