What people get wrong

Each of these costs a candidate either money or a test date.

  • Louisiana accepts either battery for the elementary content requirement: Multiple Subjects 5001 with its four subtests, or the newer 7001 series with subtests 7002 at 138, 7003 at 157, 7004 at 155 and 7005 at 159. You take one, not both.
  • Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects (5001) is four separately scored subtests with four different cut scores: 157, 157, 155 and 159. Passing three of four does not pass the test.
  • Louisiana is one of the few states requiring a separate reading test on top of the elementary content battery.

Required, but not an exam

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • An approved teacher preparation program, or an alternative certification program
  • Background check and application through the Louisiana certification system

Now go pass them.

Knowing the list is the easy part. Built To Pass teaches the strategy layer that works on any of these, aimed at the domains where you are actually losing points.
